Baker Tilly appoints Stephen Hunter (ex KPMG) as Tax Partner in the North West

Baker Tilly has appointed Stephen Hunter as Tax Partner for the North-West region.
Stephen previously worked for KPMG for 20 years where he was Head of Tax for the Lancashire, Cumbria & Merseyside region.
In his new role, Stephen will focus on advising businesses and individuals on their tax affairs and supporting Baker Tilly’s growth in the Lancashire market. Stephen has experience in a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, travel and leisure, retail and property.
Kevin Duffy, Baker Tilly’s Office Managing Partner for Preston said: ‘I am very excited about Stephen joining the Preston team. His experience of dealing with a wide-range of tax issues and knowledge of the local market will help us to further enhance our offering to new and existing clients and is a key element to Baker Tilly achieving its growth plans for the Preston office.
‘Baker Tilly opened its Preston Office in May last year and over the past 14 months has successfully embedded itself in the Lancashire marketplace.’

Stephen Hunter said: ‘I’m pleased to be joining Baker Tilly’s team in Preston and I’m confident that my knowledge and contacts across the region will strengthen Baker Tilly’s reputation and local client base.’
Jill Jones, Baker Tilly’s Regional Managing Partner for the North-West, said: ‘Stephen joins our already successful tax team in the North-West at a time when we are looking to double the size of our current business in the region over the next few years. I have no doubt he will be a huge asset to our business.’

Baker Tilly has appointed James Morris as its North-West Tax Director. Morris joins from KPMG, a company where he worked for eleven years, during which he specialised in international corporate tax and M&A tax.
Morris joins accounting and business [Only admins are allowed to see this link] Baker Tilly from [Only admins are allowed to see this link], a company where he worked for almost eleven years from 2003 and leaves as Tax Senior Manager. During this time, Morris has specialised in advising companies on tax implications of international operations and in M&A tax, and has gained experience in corporate tax compliance, R&D and capital allowances. Morris has a degree from Merchant Taylors' Schools in Crosby, London.

Marc Sonck

TAX Partner

Marc Sonck is Corporate Tax Partner and responsible for providing advice and guidance to Belgian and international clients in a wide variety of sectors.
He has extensive experience in merger and acquisition matters and is specialized in reorganizations and internal financing structures. Marc has been operating within the ‘consulting’ department of Baker Tilly Belgium since August 2012. For the time being, he shares his time between the Melle office (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and Aliaxis NV (Tuesdays and Thursdays ) where he performs an interim management job as "international tax manager" (in principle up to March 2013).
Before, he had been working for 21 years with Ernst & Young Tax Consultants and for 12 years with KPMG Belastingconsulenten (2 years of which in New York as desk manager for Belgium and Luxemburg).
Marc (°1957) is married, has a daughter and a grand-daughter and is domiciled in Ninove.
